Suggestions To Help You Get Started

There are many considerations to be made when self-publishing a book. Do you write it or do you have someone write it for you? Either way make sure you have a good editor before you put your book into production.

You may want to make a trip to your local bookstore to investigate books that are in the same genre as your book. Make note of  the size, type of paper and cover elements that are used. Make sure they not only look good but feel good to you.

You may wish to hire a book designer to lay out your book. Or if you are game, you can do it yourself. We recommend using a book layout program such as Adobe InDesign or Quark Xpress.

The cover of your book is very important as it is often what draws a person's attention. Again, we encourage you to hire a professional designer to create your book cover.

Before your book goes to print, you'll need to obtain an International Standard Book Number (ISBN). This 13 digit number is used worldwide to identify books. A different ISBN is issued for each edition and each binding. Click here to find out more about ISBN.

The bar code on the book cover identifies the ISBN which is linked to the publisher, title, author and book edition . To find out more about obtaining bar codes click here.
